Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you know that this is iPad 3 week. The Apple faithful will line up around stores across the country to be the first to have the device in hand, and your Twitter will be blowing up with iPad-related commentary. If the savvy folks over at Fab.com are any indication, online retailers have plenty of reasons to be excited, too. The company did a deep data dive and found that iPad customers convert to buyers much more rapidly than non-iPad users, with over 40% making their first purchase within 3 months of installing their shopping app. In two years time, the company surmises, iPad users are projected to account for up to 25% of their revenue. What does this portend for online retail at large? Only time will tell. Fab: In 2 Years, iPad Users Will Account for A Quarter of Our Revenue >

Some things in life are certain: death, taxes and of course, that everyone has more email than they can manage. And with the advent of the daily-deal and flash-sale email, that volume has only increased for many people. For retailers, the email is a cost-effective way to increase their online sales. Or at least, it was – signs of customer burnout have led Neiman Marcus, JC Penney, Nicole Miller and others to adjust their email strategies in the face of lower open and click-through rates. Stores Smarten Up Amid Spam Flood >

Amazon raised quite a few hackles last year by encouraging shoppers to price-compare at brick-and-mortar stores with its price-checker app. Now imagine what shoppers could get up to if they also had a virtual assistant in tow. A recent Catapult Marketing survey of consumers found that one-third of Siri-equipped iPhone users have used – or would potentially use – the assistant to check prices at the shelf. Other potential uses appealing to shoppers were for Siri to check inventory at other stores and to find coupons. But before you start fretting too much about the havoc a disembodied voice on an iPhone could wreak on your bottom line, consider that Siri also has her share of shortcomings. What Siri Means for the Future of Mobile Shopping >
