Social was on at the Hotel Gansevoort in New York City last Thursday afternoon!
The rooftop pool may have been a beehive of activity with water splashing and music pumping, but the loft was all about social commerce where New York’s hottest brands were in attendance, such as Lacoste, L’Oreal, and Ralph Lauren.
Nadim Hossain, our VP of Marketing, kicked it off with a warm welcome and a short announcement on the recent launch of our open social commerce network offering.
Nadim then eloquently introduced Sucharita Mulpuru from Forrester Research who presented her point of view on, ‘The State of Social Commerce.’ I have had the opportunity to listen to Sucharita speak many times over the past 5+ years and she is good…everyone always enjoys listening to her! A couple of points that Sucharita touched on were:
- Myths and facts about social commerce
- 8 “top ranked” social tactics
- Facebook in commerce
Next up was our very own SVP of Sales and Marketing, Cathy Halligan. Even though Cathy recently celebrated her 1 year anniversary on the vendor side, she has not forgotten her past 20 years in retail. She knows sales are at the top of the checklist for retailers and brands and she shared her point of view on what that means and how one can win with sales in social commerce. Just a couple of key takeaways:
- Review quantity and coverage does matter
- Google values keyword-rich user-generated content
- Reviews posted on Facebook = $15.72 in sales
After Sucharita and Cathy spoke, Nadim closed it with a peek at our impending September launch (new Facebook capabilities we are all very excited about and can’t wait to have available for our clients!) and then to the Q&A of the presentations. The Q&A was engaging and informative…even with the rooftop garden calling our names for the post-presentation festivities everyone stayed put asking and answering to the very end.
At 5 o’clock we all switched gears and headed out to our very own private urban oasis for 2 hours of what I would call perfect professional bliss. The setting was a mix of ideal weather and amazing views, along with yummy bites and refreshing beverages for all!
